Nuclear throne unlock all characters4/2/2023 ![]() Power-ups aren’t the only way to make each run feel different. Mixing and matching these abilities are rewarding and with some luck, can really make you feel empowered leading to a deep run. Maybe you want to dish out more damage and decide to take the increased weapon type damage. Prefer a more defensive style of play? Well you may decide to use the mutations that increase health and ammo drops or go with the ability to negate explosive damage when under a certain HP threshold. After leveling up, the option of four random power-ups are presented between stages, each with varying buffs for the player. Power-ups are vital to your success, helping give agency on how the run will play out. As enemies drop dead you’ll collect Rads, little green vials, which act as experience and upon collecting enough, will level up your character allowing you to select a mutation after the completion of the level. Switching between weapons is done with a single press of the button, feeling seamless as you blast through hundreds of baddies. ![]() It controls similarly to most twin-stick shooters, taking aim with the right stick, movement with the left stick, and firing off rounds with R. This starts off relatively tame, keyword relatively, but quickly ramps up the challenge and only continues to push the envelope the closer you get to the main objective. The goal is to reach the Nuclear Throne itself, but in order to do so you’ll have to pass through a magnitude of levels, disposing of all the enemies along the way. Nuclear Throne is a true roguelike, meaning each attempt is unique from one another, presenting different level layouts as well as obtainable power-ups. ![]() The difficulty may scare off some, but for those willing to take a beating on the path to the throne, you’ll be in for a treat. This brutally tough top-down roguelike presents a wide range of variation between characters, weapons, and power-ups, making each run feel truly unique. These come in many different shapes and forms, but with the release of Nuclear Throne, there’s a new sheriff in town. Yung Cuz's unused race_back is "Decrease cost of buddy".The Switch certainly has no lack of roguelikes or twin-stick shooters, with some genuinely great offerings on the platform.Like Y.V., pressing B with Yung Cuz causes an airhorn to play.If you play safely, you should be able to unlock it. Recycle Gland - Since Cuz consumes a lot of ammo with buddies, regenerating some bullets when firing will allow you continue shooting for longer.Īs soon as you spawn into a level, spam right click until you have 1 max HP.Rabbit Paw - Useful when you have a lot of buddies, most efficient when stacked with Throne Butt.Tough Shell - With lowered maximum HP, Tough Shell helps Cuz's survivability, especially with many buddies out at once.Gamma Guts - Because Gamma Guts extends to buddies, it's possible to send one out and run through weak enemies while Cuz hides out of range.Back Muscle - Makes it easier to use weapons with high ammo costs with a lot of buddies.Rhino Skin - Gives Yung Cuz and his buddies extra HP, and allows him to summon one extra buddy per level.Cuz can also influence where buddies move, if he is in a corner. Melee weapons are very good to take with Yung Cuz as they do not require ammo and the buddies can fire powerful strikes to enemies. Yung Cuz's buddies are comparable to Rebel's allies although the buddies do not have a time limit, but consume ammo to fire. Since they all fire the same weapon in the direction you aim, weapons with many projectiles or big damage will allow you to quickly kill any boss. Yung Cuz can quickly take out enemies and bosses by summoning buddies. The first three hits you take in a level will be neglected. Taking any of Yung Cuz's Ultra Mutations will send you into the Crib before the next level. Throne Butt further increases the amount ammo given in an ammo pickup, increasing by 100% per buddy. Yung Cuz's buddies can inherit some of his mutations. ![]() (Example: If you have 6 max HP by using Little Buddy, and go to the next level, your max HP will be restored to 8, but your current health will still be 6) If Yung Cuz ends a level with his maximum HP lowered, it resets upon entering the next level. Damage to buddies is not inflicted on Yung Cuz. Ammo is consumed by buddies when they shoot.īuddies take damage like Yung Cuz does, and can die. Yung Cuz's active takes 1/4 of your current max HP (to a minimum of 1) and spawns a smaller version of himself which uses and fires the same weapon as you do. Health chests do not replace Radiation Canisters when they spawn. Health chests have a higher chance of spawning. The amount of ammo given is +50% per buddy. Ammo pickups give more ammo based on how many active buddies Yung Cuz has. ![]()
